Record of Passed Legislation

April 4, 2020

A common question in all of the voter forums I have ever attended is whether one candidate or another will be “effective.” The challenge is who can tell? And by what criteria?

In this runoff election for the 17th Congressional District of Texas, I would recommend voters look at the body of my legislative work and my pro-business record managing the Republican legislative agenda of the U.S. House of Representatives, which can be found on Congress.gov, the official website for federal legislative information.

As you may know, I’m running on the platform of a proven conservative leader with a very strong record of passing Republican bills in the U.S. House of Representatives. In fact, over the last 47 years, no Texan has passed more bills in the U.S. House than me.

By the numbers, my 22 year legislative record in the U.S. House of Representatives includes:

  • 412 sponsored bills;
  • 204 sponsored bills considered on the floor of the U.S. House; and
  • 189 sponsored bills passed and agreed to in the U.S. House (for a list of these bills, please see the attachment from Congress.gov).

By comparison, our current 17th Congressional District Representative has had 9 sponsored bills passed and agreed to in the U.S. House over the last 10 years in office.

I would also point out these numbers don’t tell the whole story in terms of legislative language I successfully added to fellow legislators’ bills that became law, which I plan on highlighting for your review in future news.

Finally, if elected, I would be able to begin the next legislative session with 22 years of senioritywhich would place me among the 3 highest-ranking U.S. House Republicans in the Texas Congressional delegation. This seniority has great potential to translate immediately into legislative results for the 17th Congressional District, and that’s why I’m asking for your support and vote in this runoff election on July 14th.

Thank you, and all my best. For more information, please contact Tucker Anderson in my campaign office at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Pete
